Good news for graduates: Starting salaries on the rise

Graduate salaries on the riseA new study reveals that graduate pay cheques are swelling, with the average starting salary passing the £26,000 mark for 2015.

According to the new study, graduates can expect to see a sizeable increase in their earning power. Salaries for university leavers are up, and vacancies have grown across many sectors.

The study, done by an online recruitment site, found that the average graduate salary has surpassed the £26,000 per year mark. In the South East of England, where the majority of graduate jobs are located, that number is even up to £27,000 per annum. These numbers show a large increase from the £23,850 suggested for university leavers last year.

The good news doesn't stop there. The study also suggests that jobs are up 77% from this time last year, giving graduates more opportunities than ever to start their careers.

In particular, graduates looking at careers in Motoring and Automotive, or Construction and Property, will find their search much easier, with increases in vacancies of 112% and 78% in these sectors respectively, while more than twenty five other sectors have seen increases of more than 12%. The most popular sectors for graduates are Sales, Recruitment, Consultancy, Technology, Education, and Marketing.

There is also a marked increase in the number of apprenticeships being offered, a bit of news that the Chairman of the organisation responsible welcomed. He told the Independent 'For employers operating in sectors particularly affected by skills shortages - such as engineering, technology and manufacturing - they are also an effective route to attracting top-talent and creating a skilled, home-grown workforce.'

It's a bit of good news for graduates just entering the job market.
