Hundreds of management jobs are to be created in the UK by coffeehouse chain Starbucks, news which could currently be a lifeline in the world of graduate employment.
The coffee giant plans to create a total of 5,000 jobs by raising the number of drive-through branches from nine to 200 - half of which will run under licence by petrol forecourt retailer Euro Garages.
Young jobseekers could especially benefit as half the chain's baristas are currently under 24, said Kris Engskov, managing director of Starbucks UK & Ireland.
The 30-year-old chain has expanded into marketplaces including trains, planes, supermarkets and workplaces, opening 35 motorway stores with Welcome Break last year.
Starbucks enjoys nearly 9,000 company-owned stores and just over 8,000 licensed outlets in more than 50 countries.
