Graduates can expect more job opportunities in Scotland after a famous retailer has unveiled the opening of its new store in Irvin.
With the launch of its 1,000 UK store, Sainsbury's is set to create 800 new posts over the next 18 months in Montrose and Pitlochry, by an extension of the pre-existing East Kilbride supermarket and the opening of a variety of smaller new Local stores.
Mike Coupe, Sainsbury's group commercial director spoke at the opening of the new Irvine store. He expressed his pleasure at being able to announce the creation of new jobs and said he hoped they could make a difference to the Scottish community.
Mr Coupe added that the first Sainsbury's was started in 1984 and since then the firm has been committed in expanding its presence in the country. Currently, there are around 60 stores employing more than 8,000 people.
He further stated: "The opening today at Irvine and the 800 jobs we will create is just part of our wider commitment to Scotland.
"Through the proposed Public Health Levy, Scottish Ministers are penalising one of the few sectors which continues to grow and create jobs and which is crucial to Scotland's economy."
