Nuclear project sparks job hopes - graduate jobs

Science and technology graduates can now hope for challenging new placements, as the UK's nuclear new-build programme involving eight new power plants has been given the go-ahead.

Dr Mike Weightman, HM chief inspector of nuclear installations, undertook a study on the safety aspects of the project in view of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Dr Weightman arrived at the conclusion that there is hardly any need to change the current parameters for setting up new nuclear power plants.

Business leaders have welcomed the decision on the project. According to the Institution of Civil Engineers director general, Tom Foulkes, the industry can now progress with the programme with a renewed sense of confidence.
