92 marine research jobs announced - graduate jobs

Graduates interested in marine research have had some good news with the announcement that more than 90 jobs are up for grabs in Ireland.

The news was broken by Taoiseach Enda Kenny on a visit to the national research vessel RV Celtic Explorer in Dublin.

The Seafood Processing Business Investment Scheme will create 64 jobs thanks to a €3.5 million grant. A further, 28 research posts have been generated thanks to a €2 million grant from the International SmartOcean Graduate programme (ISG).

Mr Kenny said that Ireland is seen as an upcoming centre of marine research and innovation.

He further said: "This has been achieved through the mapping of the 90% of Irish national territory that lies under the Atlantic, the creation of a quarter of a billion euro-worth of marine research infrastructure, and the fostering of strong linkages between industry and research centres, all of which will support employment opportunities in key areas of potential growth in the marine sector."
