Graduates may apply for new jobs to be created by a US based computing firm in Ireland.

Mycroft - which specialises in IT identity and security solutions - has announced plans to set up a new operations centre in Waterford, providing up to 50 jobs.

The facility will boost the development of the company's new cloud-based IT identity and security solutions. In addition, it will bolster R&D and offer technical support.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton attributed support from Government through IDA Ireland for the improvement in employment opportunities.

He added: "Today's announcement that this world-leading IT company is establishing a facility in Waterford with the creation of 50 jobs in R&D and cloud-based services is a great vote of confidence in the high-tech potential of the regional economy."

The global firm offers its solutions to financial services, healthcare and government organisations.

Sean Hanley, who has been working with Mycroft for the past two years, will lead the firm's Irish operation.

Company chief executive Terry Jost described Waterford as an excellent location for Mycroft's new centre. He said it will also help the firm to further expand its business in the European and Middle East markets.

Mr Jost added: "We appreciate the ongoing support of IDA Ireland throughout this process and look forward to a long and successful relationship."
