Vodafone has announced plans to create 50 new jobs for graduates after 3,000 applied for its university leaver programme this year.
The news comes on a mixed day for the company, which revealed further plans to cut 375 jobs across its business next month, but also to create 170 jobs in customer-facing roles in the near future.
The cuts, part of a £1-billion programme to improve efficiency across the firm, will hit back office positions at various sites, including Vodfaone headquarters in Newbury, Berkshire.
Matthew Brearley, human resources director at Vodafone UK, said: "We're committed to increasing the number of customer-facing employees which will help us simplify our business and continue to deliver outstanding communications services across the UK's best network."
