LLM graduates 'still highly valued' - graduate jobs

Graduates with Master of Laws (LLM) qualifications are still highly valued worldwide, says Vicki Kelley, global director of talent management at law firm Baker & McKenzie.

She notes that while certain specialised LLMs - tax groups, for example - are particularly sought after, all play a significant part in the company's recruitment and retention policy.

So much so, she says, that 40% of their 1,300 partners worldwide have one, and for those who do not, many offices offer financial assistance and time off to study for the degree part time.

Scholarships are also available for some to study full-time at designated schools and universities, an option often combined with time in an overseas office to give the employee international exposure and experience.

She says: "We very much value LLM programmes. They provide significant value, help us to attract and retain high calibre talent and deliver against our strategy and client needs."
