Trainee Manager Retail Management - Majestic (South East)

Location: South East, Guildford, Farnham, Weybridge, Worthing, Maidenhead and Wokingham, however, Majestic Wine have over 180 stores Nationwide which means you will need to be flexible about location and willing to move to progress your career

Salary: Between £17,500 to £19,265 depending on location.

The role of Trainee Manager is a very important one at Majestic Wine as ultimately we would like you to develop your career with us and progress onto becoming a Store Manager in the future. Our Store Manager’s started out as Trainee Manager’s which means you will learn from people who understand exactly what its like to be a new Trainee Manager and who will help you improve your wine knowledge whilst teaching you how to become a successful store Manager. At Majestic you will be working in small teams of like minded individuals which makes our stores friendly places to work where you work hard but have fun.

Hands on role
From day one at Majestic Wine you will be working in one of our stores interacting with our customers and making a major contribution to your team. Our customers appreciate that new Trainee Managers will not know everything, but a smile and a friendly chat breaks the ice and who know’s maybe they will be able to teach you something new about their favourite wine. Your input matters and we encourage creativity and bringing new ideas to work. Each day is full of activity and whether you are lifting boxes of wine and creating eye catching displays or navigating your way around the city centre with a van load of champagne you certainly will not be bored! The role is very physical and involves lifting lots of boxes of wine and beer, helping customers make their decisions and carrying cases to their cars for them.
Driving the van plays a large and important part of the role. We offer customers free delivery which is a great part of our service, this means that everyone working in store will spend some time driving one of our company vehicles. Working with such a fantastic product makes the role at Majestic quite special, you will be surrounded by great wines everyday and will be speaking to customers about a luxury product which they really want to buy and enjoy.

Training and Development
Although we do not need you to be a wine expert you really need to be interested in wine, developing a passion for the product which you can share with our customers.
Trainee Managers at Majestic Wine learn all about wine tasting and as we put every Trainee Manager through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 3 Award, after six months in the company, you will gain a qualification too. This greatly increases your wine knowledge and improves your confidence in dealing with customers along with igniting your passion for wine. The knowledge you gain from the courses you attend at Head Office complement and enhance your store based training. As a Trainee Manager you would typically work in two stores before applying to become an Assistant Manager after around 12 – 18 months. As we promote internally, within around three years you could be managing your own store. Every individual’s career develops at a different rate and your progression will depend on the opportunities available. We’ll always treat you as an individual – and give you the personal support and training you need.
