GRADUATE ASSISTANT HOUSEMASTER

My client is an international school with boarding facilities looking for a new Assistant Housemaster. As they will have responsibility for the male school population applicants must be male themselves.

Job Description

The post-holder must behave in a responsible and appropriate manner for a person charged with the welfare and guidance of young people, and must set an example in their personal behaviour for individuals to emulate at all times while on site.

Duties will include:

To liaise closely with the Director
To establish friendly, supportive relationships with individuals whilst maintaining authority.
To supervise and as appropriate, direct and support individuals in their academic work outside of lessons.
To help to organise, share and stimulate activities in the evenings and at weekends.

A willingness to coach girls and boys Sports and to take P.E. sessions would be preferable.

Person Specification
To apply for the role of Assistant Housemaster, you must be male and be educated to degree standard or the equivalent. You will have previous experience of pastoral work, (voluntary or paid), preferably in a school or college setting.

You should have experience in dealing with young people of different nationalities and cultures. You should have good communication skills in both spoken and written English and, because of the international nature of the location, preferably have experience of another culture other than English.

Have a real desire to take on a high level of pastoral care of all during the College day and be able to support a structured, caring environment that allows individuals to thrive, both emotionally and educationally.

Willing to devote the time required, including anti-social hours, whenever on duty.
