The Finance Programme

At the end of the day, it all comes down to money! Working in Finance at VT Group plc isn’t just about adding up – as a Finance Graduate you could be involved in statutory reporting, project accounting and providing essential financial information to management teams.
As part of a placement for example, you could be asked to join a bid team on a multi-million
pound project as we look to grow our business further - nothing happens here without a finance
professional involved and you will learn a lot more about business management through the various placements as well as the fundamental finance basics such as Profit & Loss accounts, balance sheets, sales and purchase ledgers.

The Benefits

The finance scheme will last for up to 3 years during which time you will normally complete three 12 month placements. These will be at three different business units and this variety will allow you to experience the finance function from all sides i.e. dealing with customers and suppliers at the front end of the business and then the top down view from the centre looking at business accounts and Group reporting for the Board of Directors. Placements are normally allocated in the summer.

We want our finance graduates to become qualified professionals as quickly as possible. You can choose to follow a professional career through either the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) route. We will support you to achieve this by paying all related fees, study costs, revision courses and exams.

We take your studying seriously and appreciate that it has to fit in with the rest of your life; therefore we allow you to decide which is your preferred method of study - day release, evening classes, block release etc - it's up to you! But in return we expect dedication and commitment to do your best in the exams but more importantly at work too. We are proud to be an approved employer (Silver Status) by ACCA and an accredited CIMA Quality Training Partner.

In addition to your professional development, all our graduates are actively encouraged to develop their personal skills and qualities by taking part in Group wide events, conferences and projects.

Some projects to date have included 1st year graduates presenting a competitor intelligence case study to the Board of Directors.

We will be looking for graduates with a business degree - preferably in Accounting and/or Finance who have achieved or expect to achieve a 2:2 or above. We don't mind which university you went to as long as you have the drive, motivation and capabilities that we're looking for.
