VT Group Graduate Scheme Management Programme

You may be wondering what we mean by "management". Well, at VT Group it doesn't mean just one thing - it stands for variety. Our Management Programme allows each individual to identify where their future career path leads. The majority of what VT does is project based - whether that's trying to win new contracts or maintaining existing ones, everything we do can be broken down into smaller chunks.

The benefit of our Management Programme is that you are not pigeon-holed into a role from day one, you could try roles as a project manager working on complex, interesting and challenging projects. Then maybe move into a bid development role helping to put together a multi-million pound proposal to win the company new business. After you've tried the executive lifestyle perhaps you'll decide to try an operational role managing a small team of people at the front end of one of our businesses.

None of these roles are easy - and they're not designed to be, we want to stretch and challenge you to help achieve your best. You should then be ready and prepared to move into a management role once you have finished the scheme.

The Benefits

Your Management Programme will last up to 2 years during which time you are likely to undertake four 6 month placements within different divisions of the VT Group, although this is flexible. This gives you the chance to try 4 different roles, or if you are already certain which direction you want your career to go you can try similar roles within different VT Companies - the scope for varied experience is phenomenal and no two Management Programmes will look the same.

We strongly believe in training and developing our graduates in a way that complements the work they are doing. The professional development opportunities we provide are not set in stone and we are always looking to continuously improve the scheme so that you get the best experience. Management graduates to date have undertaken training such as MSc in Project Management & Leadership, Finance for Non-Financial Managers and APM approved project management qualifications.

In addition to your professional development, all our graduates are actively encouraged to develop their personal skills and qualities by taking part in Group wide events, conferences and projects. Some projects to date have included 1st year graduates presenting competitor intelligence case studies to the Board of Directors.

The Opportunities

Management ability cannot be identified by a certain degree so we accept applications from graduates who have studied any subjects. You must have or expect to achieve a degree class of 2:2 or above, but equally important you must be able to demonstrate the behavioural competencies that we look for in all our graduates – team work, communication skills, problem solving, planning & organising, leadership ability and drive/motivation. We don't recruit you for specific jobs which means if you join us you must be motivated and driven to seek out the best opportunities within the Group, network with all the right people and get yourself noticed.

The types of roles available to Management graduates include project management, operational or commercial management, business development, HR, supply chain/procurement.
