Training & Profiles

Our graduate programme offers an opportunity for graduates of any discipline to reach the standard necessary to begin a rewarding and secure career in the IT industry. We require our trained graduates to have a commercial level of experience in computer system hardware, a range of current operating systems, network infrastructure and security, with the ability to support medium to large-scale networks. Successful applicants will undergo 7 weeks of full-time training and have the opportunity to gain Microsoft and Cisco qualifications before starting paid employment.

Who is suitable?
Successful employment requires technical knowledge, experience and good generic skills. These can be learned in a relatively short time, but in an industry that is constantly advancing you will also require a genuine interest in the field if you are to maintain your career development. At your assessment interview we will evaluate your aptitude for these positions and we will bring to your attention any factors we believe will have a negative affect on your employability.

We are looking for,

  • A degree from any discipline.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Logical thinking and good problem solving.
  • The ability to work individually or in a team.
  • A genuine interest and desire to work in the I.T. industry.
  • A competent user of computer systems.
  • A full UK work permit if applicable.

Case Studies

Kawaldeep Singh

Name: Kawaldeep Singh
Degree: BEng (Hons) Electronic and Computer
University: Leeds University
Role: Network Support Technician

Having got my degree I found it just wasn't enough to get into a job and after a frustrating period trying I discovered the Graduate training programme at JBC. They offered to provide me with relevant skills, hands on experience and the help I needed to find a job.

When I visited the JBC Training centre I saw immediately a professional company with excellent facilities. Their experience was obvious and it did not surprise me to learn they have been successfully placing people like me for 20 years. The ability to stay in JBC accommodation during the course was a great benefit. Mixing with other students was a big help and having everything I needed on the doorstep made the whole experience much more productive.

The trainers and the rest of the staff are friendly and approachable; they really were committed to helping me succeed. Although the technical training was really interesting I was never allowed to forget my primary aim, which was to get a job. From week one I was advised how to prepare my CV, identify suitable jobs and guided on both telephone and face to face interview techniques. This gave me real confidence in approaching employers and the help from the JBC Recruitment team in finding suitable positions was invaluable. Armed with my new skills and relevant experience my degree now became an asset in my jobsearch in a way that it hadn't been before.

I got a job immediately after finishing the 7-week course.

A Edmead

Name: A Edmead
Degree: BDS Dentistry
University: Kings College London
Role: LAN Support Technician

It was a big change in direction for me to move from Dentistry into the IT industry and I needed confidence that if I invested in more training I would be successful in finding a job afterwards. I was attracted to the JBC Graduate Programme as it offered more than just technical training and I liked the idea of having help with my career development from an experienced company. I took advantage of the opportunity to go and see the facilities and found the interview and presentation very informative. The fact that I passed the aptitude test and one to one interview with the course director gave me the confidence I was looking for.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with JBC and found the training interesting, informative and challenging. I was able to secure a position with Lloyds of London and started work 11 weeks after starting the course. I have not looked back since.

I am now doing desktop and server side support for Orange's George Street office, supporting Windows NT, 2000 and 2003 Server Active Directory, Exchange, Lotus Notes, MS Office, PDAs and network infrastructure issues.

I would recommend JBC to any Graduate who is considering getting into the IT industry.
