Graduate careers advice

At graduate-jobs.com we have created this easy to use guide to assist you in formulating a plan for finding you your graduate job. It is graduate careers advice from some past graduates who have been in a similar position to you… in need of a meaningful career (not just a job), some direction and a plan.

It is what we would do now if we had to do it all again. It is graduate careers advice which is not "qualified", it is not "official" but it is honest.

Firstly, you must understand that finding your first job is by no means an easy task. So try not to feel disheartened if you receive knockback after knockback. Giving up, feeling the whole application process is futile, being fed up and even feelings of isolation are all common symptoms of the job hunting process getting to you. It is rare for one of the first few interviews to prove fruitful. Mostly because interviews are a learning experience themselves and the more you do the better you become at them.

For this reason, remember that every application you make and every interview that you attend is not wasted time, even if a job offer is not the end result. At times, a graduate career may feel like it is blocked from you behind a brick wall. But think of every application you make and every interview you attend as chipping away at that brick wall. Eventually, the wall will fall and you will be able to grab that graduate career that you want and deserve.

Find that hard to believe? Well, if things are really getting to you we advise maybe having a rethink. If you've been trying that long and still not getting the tiniest inkling of a response back then maybe it is time to restrategise. Take a look at our graduate careers advice on CV writing and interview technique and analyse where the problem lies.

With that in mind, there may not be a problem at all and it is simply a matter of persistence. The more you apply the more chance you get of landing a graduate job and eventually you will and you’ll see that we were telling the truth… honest, we are!

Go on, see for yourself! Let's start at the beginning of our graduate careers advice - How to find a graduate job.

Best of luck!
